First Aid Courses for your staff and pupils in School

At Horton Training we believe it is important for teachers and students to learn First Aid in Schools. All the below courses can be delivered at your school at a convenient time for you. If this means delivering the course over a couple of hours after school for a few days that is not a problem. Alternatively students and staff are welcome to come to my training centre at Scottow Enterprise Park (Old RAF Coltishall). I have a DBS Certificate.

First Aid for students

This is a brand new qualification to assist with new regulations for schools coming in Sept 2020. This 3 hour course is suitable for children aged 11+.

FAA Level 3 – First Aid at work

This is a 3 day course suitable for your staff and also students aged 16+. See information on my site for more information. This will enable students to study First aid in school and to have an extra item on their CV.

FAA Level 3 – Emergency first aid

This is a one day course for staff and students aged 14+. This could be a useful addition to a child’s CV. See link for more details.

First Aid for Mental Health Awareness – FAA Level 1

This 4-hour qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Learners will know how to recognise and manage stress.
Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they
can go to get help. This course is available to staff and students aged 14+.

First Aid for Mental Health – FAA Level 2

This 6-hour qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Learners will know how to recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. They will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help. This training is available for staff and children aged 14+

Supervising First Aid for Mental Health

This 2 day qualification provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a wide range of mental health conditions and learn about the support/therapy provided by professional healthcare providers. They will know how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate
professional help. Learners will recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. They will learn about the first aid action plan for mental health, be able to put it in place and understand how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help. This course is for your staff and also for students aged 16+. This course would be a great addition to a students CV.

Children's first aid

Paediatric First Aid – FAA Level 3

A 2 day course that meets to requirements of the EYFS. I can deliver to staff looking after children aged 5 and under. Students aged 16+ looking for a career in childcare when leaving school may be interested in this course.

Mini Medics

This is a basic introduction to First Aid and Defibrillation aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11. However it can suit children of any age that wishes to First Aid in School.

We use no confusing terminologies and will show complete respect for the child’s ability. Making it educational and practical and instil the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured. The course is 3 hours long.
